fun grandkids

This little santa makes me excited for Christmas.  Vincent you are better than Santa!!!!
                                                               Finnley rides his new bike.
Cousin friends:  Finnley and Vincent

Vincent is getting so grown up.

All the boys love Erica!!!   and so does grandma.

Finnley is happy, of course he is, we just ate at Cheesecake Factory!!

Vincent is all worn out.

Horton hears another who!

When Zach and Krista were expecting Finnley grandpa would say that soon Horton would hear a little who.
He is less that 1 hour old and grandma is already crazy over him!
Hello, my name is Rowan Leo Horton.    Named after grandpa Marc Leo Brown who was named after his grandpa Leo Palmer.

More Wednesday fun

One Wednesday in June grandpa left for scout camp so we had to console ourselves by taking a trip to Menchies Frozen Yogurt shop.
Cole always adorns his with plenty of gummy worms and gummy  bears.
Erica always goes for the chocolate, carmel, peanut butter cups and cheesecake chunks.  She taught me how to make a really good treat.

Cash has a good combo of chocolate and lots of sprinkles!!!!

Today we made Angry Bird Pizzas.

We also made a fruit pizza Angry Bird but didn't get a chance to take a picture.

Funny Grandpa

One week we did tie dye with Rit Dye, next week we will try another method.

Sharpie marker and alcohol tie dye, very easy!!

The last Wednesday of the summer we made candy dispensers.
Each person painted and designed their own and we went to Lins so each could choose their own candy to fill it.
A fun, fun summer, but much too short.
Cash and Cole start kindergarten this year so Wednesdays are changed forever!!
I am already looking forward to next summer.

Our Beet Festival

Ten years ago when Erica was born I started spending all day of every Wednesday with her.  That was my day off from work and my day of fun with her.  In 2007 when Cole and Cash were born they joined us in our fun.  I have told the parents of other grandchildren born since then that they are welcome to add any and all of their little ones to join us.  All they have to do is bring them to St. George!!!!    Preferably, to live!!!   This Wednesday in June began with watersliding in the backyard.

They have helped me pull beets in the past and I knew they liked to and were very good at it so I told them we could do that job.

Cash knew how to find the really big ones.  They went crazy with it and I was glad.  Krista and Natalee are coming next week and wanted to do some canning but peaches aren't on yet so I thought we could practice on the beets.
They were great workers.  I am not kidding,  I could have never done all this without them.
Everyone had a job to do in our beet factory!!  Cole moved the washed beets up to the table so Erica could cut the greens off and sort the beets by size.

There were hundreds of them laying out on the lawn.  I just have to say that even tho' none of my kids will eat a beet I think they look so pretty growing in the garden AND I do love to eat them..... Marc eats them with me, he doesn't love them as much as I do but he likes them.  Best of all he plants them!!!
Here is the grand final project!!    Pickled Beets.

MARC THE SURVEYOR

One Wednesday in August at 7 a.m. Marc received a call that demanded that he come back to the Moab job to solve a problem (that really did not exist.)  Since he had just been there for 2 days and he had exhausted all other workers and was going to go there and back in one day I decided to create a
"Take your wife to work day"
We left at 5:30 a.m., got to Moab at noon and drove up the LaSalle Loop Road to the job site.

This marker is installed right next to where Marc set up the base station for the GPS.  I use this to tell him that he had to be named Marc.  He is the survey marker!!!! or marker the surveyor.

Worked 5 hours and then packed up, Marc said we would not back track to come home, we would continue around the loop because the scenery in beautiful.

It was a picturesque drive.  Looking down into Castle Valley. No trip to Moab is complete without eating at the Moab Diner.  Home before midnight!!!
